Miniature Haven

I want to share with you how I got into dollhouse miniature hobby…it was 2000 and I was pregnant with my only child, I had quit my job because I was convinced I had the boss from hell. Funny how the carpet, filing cabinets and walls were even red; hell indeed. It was April 1st I remember, I quit and upon returning home with my little belly I discovered the health insurance cards in the mail. I wanted to go back to the job and scream ‘April fools! I was just kidding.’ But I didn’t. lol

So during my stint as the pregnant stay at home wife cruising on EBay one day in my search for Gucci I stumbled upon miniatures. All the unrealized childhood dreams came rushing back. Like the time I wanted the Barbie Dream House but the stores were all sold out and I had to settle for the Barbie Dream Pool-which was NOT the same. Also as a young girl I had a penchant for making interiors out of shoe boxes. So I ordered a Greenleaf kit and jumped in. While I waited for my kit to come I purchased some clay and began experimenting with making ‘food.’ You see what led me down this path was a turbulent time in my life where I had many conflicts and I discovered by turning my attention to miniatures proved to be the best medicine. I credit it for the reason I was able to maintain my sanity. Lol

Of course the distractions of life caused me to go in and out of my hobby. The truth is I need to return to my craft! Get busy again making my perfect miniature worlds. Recently I attended a friends store official opening party and there was a lady taking Aura photos. Curious I had mine done. As we stood there gazing at my ‘unusual aura’, she explained that I am happiest when I am creating. No duh! Lol

So this is the birth of my official miniature blog. Welcome to my world! I hope you will enjoy the journey with me.

That's an interesting story, I think that spending time on creative projects is very much like meditation - but rather more 'productive' :)
